New Halloween Plush Dolls

I've been wanting to make some plush dolls and recently was focused so hard on my other dolls that I needed a break. I had a design I did months ago so I set aside my Halloween dolls for a bit and cranked these out instead. They are based on a design I did for a Vampire Dotee Doll swap I did last year. I had so much fun with it I wanted to do larger plush. The original design didn't have arms or legs but were pillow like but I decided to push myself further and make dolls out of them. I'm in love with them! There was supposed to be a witch and a Skellie but time got away from me so I might not do those this year. I did do a Ghost, Vampire, Frank and his Bride.
Please let me know your thoughts on them. I'm thinking of re-doing the ghost. I made him first and I think he needs more detail. These will be OOAK and if they sell I won't make anymore until next year and they will be somewhat different.
This is the Dotee Doll that inspired my design.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my little creative efforts. Christmas is kind of screaming in my ear and I feel like I'm already late in starting that so more fun things are a coming!

Not the Weekend I Was Expecting...

...it was good and bad. First off the Girl was in Minnesota at her first college soccer tournament. She scored her first collegiate goal while being injured so I'm pretty proud of her.

My nasty chronic illness decided to rear it's ugly head and had me down in bed or on the couch all weekend, but was able to use some of that time wisely and sew if only slowly.
Here's me on my couch covered in sewing and fabric.

Friday I jumped, yelled, ran around and told everyone I know that I made the Front Page of Etsy! Well my Candy Corn Plush made the Front Page..same thing. Super excited because it made it in a treasury only the day or so before.
My sweet plush treat has gotten 354 views! Yes I'm a little excited but that excitement carried me thru the rest of the crappy weekend.

I did finish 3 Halloween plush dolls and will have one more finished today, so look forward to seeing them in the next couple of days.

I also did a lovely Friday Feature on Wilde Designs too so please check it out and comment.

Sassy's Friday Feature- Wilde Designs

One of my favorite twitter and blog friends is Beth and she has 3 fun shops on etsy. Her main shop is Wilde Designs. Apparently she's a fan of Oscar Wilde, hence the name and has some interesting quote bookmarks by said fellow. It's an eclectic shop full of fun. She has everything from a thought provoking photo series called Vanishing Texas to another photo series called Barbie Murders (which is a favorite of mine being a little twisted and dark), another great series that I just love is Retro Rebrobates (Should we tell her....? is just one hilarious example).
Original artwork and jewelry round out this shops great offerings.

I admit it, I staged my Barbie in gruesome death scenes.
(I never said I wasn't a weird kid) So I enjoy the dark
humor of these prints.
The Barbie Murders series has its own Storque spotlight:

Beautiful and reminiscent of my favorite
painter Georgia O'Keeffe.
LOL! This makes me laugh so hard!

Beth's 2nd etsy shop is called Tacky Fab and is full of chunky jewelry, purses and clothes. It's tacky and it's fab!

I love this scarf! Colorful & Fab!
The Fab just continues with these great earrings!

The 3rd shop is called Power Ups and has Geeky gear for all occasions. This shop is a dual affair between Beth and her partner Wes and is my most favorite out of all her shops! Being the geeky girl I am I just revel in all the geekiness here. Being a huge Dr. Who fan it's fun to see what new designs will appear here. Vampires and Sweet Transvestites and Hobbits and much more original art can be found here. If you are a geeky sci-fi fan this shop is a must to browse and hopefully you'll find a fun present for yourself or geeky loved one.

You will be exterminated!
Great line from the new Doctor.
My son loves this movie so I added this for him.
One of my all time favorite Vampires! Sigh!
Looks like something Flash Gordon would have, right?
I'm a Rocky Horror Picture Show lover
from way, way, OMG way back. One
day I will buy this cause it's a must have!

I hope you enjoyed seeing all these great finds from Beth's Shops as much as I had putting together this post. To find out more about Beth and her work check out her shops and I'll link you to her Facebook, Flickr, blog and Twitter too.

Worktable Wednesday Peeks

I received a custom request to make my candy corn ornament into a Halloween Tree topper and here he is below.
Today the worktable is all about peeks. I'm currently working on a Halloween series of plush that I had drawn up for a while but the dolls took so much time I wasn't sure I'd have a chance to do them. They may or may not be ready for Halloween but they are screaming to be worked on!
Even though It's been 90 degrees here I'm already feeling the call of Christmas and will soon be sketching and sewing up plush and dolls for that season too. I'll also have some related paper goods, tags, stickers, etc in the shop. Ugh, I'm kind of stressing just thinking about it! It's supposed to be fun right? Deep breath, yes I say, it'll be so much fun!

On the lighter side I sold the Large Candy Corn Plush this morning! Yay! I think I'll re-list and sew up one more. I'm going to have a giveaway this month but haven't worked out the details yet so drop back for that news and also please drop back on Friday, I'm featuring one of my lovely blog readers on Friday Finds.

Crazy Weekend and A Candy Corn

This weekend was very full. It started with The Girl's first Women's College Soccer game on Friday. They won 3-1 but the Girl pulled her hamstring again and had to leave the field in pain several times. She was very disappointed in her performance. By that night I realized that her allergies were more than just that and suspected that she had a full blown sinus infection on top of everything else and her asthma was worse.

In between baking for the Girl's Team Bake Sale and groceries and cleaning and dealing with the whiny Girl and forcing her to take a trip to Urgent Care and another trip to the pharmacy for antibiotics, I did manage to sew up a fun Candy Corn Plush and start work on my Halloween character stickers.
He's a larger version of my little Halloween ornament.
The Candy Corn Plush is now in my etsy shop and I hope to get my stickers done in the next few days.

I sent the Girl to school today with 2 big bins filled with 3 kinds of cookies and 4 kinds of muffins for the bake sale. I went a bit overboard probably. The girl's are going to an out of state tournament next weekend and the sale is to provide them with spending money that the athletic dept doesn't and also to go towards new warm up suits. Am also debating if I should bake some more today for the rest of the sale tomorrow.

My mom made the labels and packaged everything up so nicely.
