Craft Store Finds

My mom and I went to Joann's today. I needed tule for my art doll and I
was hoping to get the STUFFED magazine too.

I was lucky and found the STUFFED magazine. I also got these great orange bowls. I LOVE the color orange. Not sure if they will stay in my studio or not yet. Also got this super cute chicken timer. Could not pass that up! Bought more pins but these have large knobs on the heads which are easier for me to pick up when my hands swell up. The best score of the day was the iron on ric rac felt! I got pink, aqua and lime green. They were in the clearance section and had between 8 and 10 years on them for, are you ready for it?, .97 cents a yard!!!! The regular price is $2.99 a yard! I grabbed the cute colors but may go back tomorrow to see if I missed any other good ones.

I was so proud of myself for not going nuts-o bunnies and sticking to my budget even with the ric rac. Have you scored anything awesome lately? I'd love to hear about it!

My Plush Gnome is Done

I recently asked my blog readers to tell me what new plush things they'd like to see me make next. 2 of the answers I got were a Fox and a Gnome. You saw the fox previously but I thought showing them together would be so cute as they are both woodland creatures.

Gnome WIP

The prototype of the Gnome came out o.k just needs a few small tweaks but I love him. I hope you do too! He's 12 inches tall (30 cm). I plan on making more in different sizes and have a female Gnome in the works too. There is the possibility that I may make him into a DIY kit but I really need to think about that.

Sassy's Friday Finds - Gnomes

I adore Gnomes. I first fell in love with them when the big Gnome book came out in the 80's. Wish I still had that book, don't know what happened to it. I'm working on a Gnome plush pattern myself (check out yesterday's post to see a peek) so it just made sense to make Friday's finds about Gnomes.

As I was looking through photos I realized that I'm a Gnome snob. Yes I really am! I just prefer the traditional red and blue Gnomes to any other kinds. Weird since I'm a think outside of the box kind of person (at least I think I am). So in the interest of variety, fairness and just plain fun I tried to mix up some fun Gnomes of all kinds. Enjoy!

As always you can click on the link below each photo to be taken to that seller's shop.

How cute are they peeking from a flower pot?

I adore this and will buy it one day and play with it.

I'd love to have one of these for all 4 seasons.
I have this print hanging in my studio and love it!

 Amazing detail.
He won't keep the rabbits away but he's a cutie!

I want this set so bad!

Adorable Waldorf style.
 Squee!

Yeah I'd wear it, so?

Love the Orange hat!

Not traditional but super sweet!

I have one of these Gnomes but in the traditional red & blue.
Isn't that owl fabric awesome?

Of course an owl with gnomes on it. You should

Foxy Loxy Is In The House...

..or at least the studio. I did the drawing for this 2 months or so ago (maybe more?) and the pattern has been sitting cut out and staring at me since then. Yesterday afternoon I just pushed everything I was working on aside and started working full force on this new pattern idea. Not sure why but it felt good to start something new that's been pinging in the back of my mind for a while now.
This drawing is a combo of a fox and my Chihuahua Carmelita.
 Here's the original drawing.

The drawing in plush.

Sorry for the photos. It is super sunshiny in here this morning and this was the best I could do.

I've already modified the pattern to change the face cause while it works in a drawing it doesn't in plush. While this fox was fun to make I can see that modifying the pattern further to a more simple streamlined design is probably the better way to go. So I'll do that and show you all soon how that goes.

Meanwhile I'd love to hear your thoughts on this, so please leave a comment. And it's fine if you don't like it just tell me why.
