The Mermaid is Finished.

Introducing Ianthe.
Ianthe is a One Of A Kind Art Doll/Soft Sculpture. She's made to hang on a wall. She can stand on her tail if leaned slightly against a wall. She is completely hand-sewn from eco felt. She has wires in her hands, arms and ears so that they can be posed a bit.
Ianthe has a green ribbon and "pearls" woven in her hair . Her hair is sewn to her head. She is 28 inches tall (70 cm).
I really enjoyed making this piece. I will eventually make more Mermaids after I get a few more other fantasy ideas that are banging around in my brain out and sewn up. I hope you enjoyed seeing the finished piece.

A New WIP

Hi everyone! I know I said I'd have the Elf doll finished this week to show you but the final details have taken longer than I thought they would. She does finally have hair but I still need to make her cloak. For some reason the cloak design is eluding me.

So I decided to show you a peek at another work in progress to tide you over until I'm done with the first one. I hope you enjoy seeing this one too!
She's a Mermaid!
She's based on the same construction as the Elf doll so I won't go thru all of that again. I adore her green eyes and wish that I had done the Elf with green eyes...oh well. Hopefully I'll have the Elf fully finished by next week. Thanks for stopping by! If you like leave a comment so I know you were here. ;0)

New Dolls I'm Working On and Other New Things.

These little felt dolls will be available in my etsy shop. As you can see they are multi ethnic. Some are Ballerinas and some mermaids. I'm thinking of doing some fairy tale dolls too.

I've put the rest of the Wonderland dolls on the back burner for now. My time is very limited so I'm concentrating on things I can finish quickly.

I've been working hard at the other side of my business, the stationery side. Moving just about everything off eBay, organizing and re-working some older graphics in preparation of getting my sad little website filled up and running.

I've also re-worked this blog design and created a blog just for my stationery business. This current blog will be for only my etsy items, my fun creative efforts, rants, sharing fun things I find and photos of my dog. The other blog will be for my stationery, website and eBay promotion. I hope to be able to give each equal time.

Another new bit of news is that I've opened a Zazzle shop and have a lot of my newer fun graphics available there for t-shirts, mugs and more. I'll post a link soon.

Now that the Girl has gone back to school I can roll up my sleeves and really get some work done!

Mermaid Doll Is Finished!

Here is her pretty little face. You can see her seashell bra
and her starfish hair clip.

Full body shot. Oh those scales took forever!

I'm holding her so you can get a better idea of her size.

The doll is based on my mermaid Illustration shown here.

I think I've lost my mind!

Started finally working on the mermaid last night. She was getting very snarky that I had put Rose and the blue Doctor ahead of her. After sewing this much by hand and cutting out hundreds of more little scales I realized I was crazy to do this! But since I always finish what I start, eventually anyway, I'll keep rolling along.

Here's a close up of my madness!

Penguins, Penguins Everywhere! A Mermaid and A Treasury

Since I've been under the weather recently and I can't just sit and do nothing, I've been sewing penguins. I now have penguins in many colors and many sizes taking over my cutting table. I have more than is shown in the above photo. Once I got on a roll I just couldn't stop! Not entirely sure what I'll do with them all. I've listed Herman the big guy with the heart in my shop and 2 of the blue and pink small ones in a giveaway I'm doing for One World One Heart, which you can click on the sidebar link to get more info and also check out my previous post.

I'd really like to know what people think of these because I'd like to make more plush/softies based on my stationery designs. I don't want to waste my time if they are ugly or people don't like them, ya know?

Here's a mermaid softie I'm starting. She's based on my mermaid print I have in my etsy shop. She's got a bit of the old nakedness going on right now, but she doesn't have eyes yet so doesn't know. Shhhhhh! Don't tell her!

I was in a great treasury made up of etsy Twitter friends. See my Cupcake Love Print in the middle there? There were so many great items but unfortunately I didn't get this blogged about in time and the treasury has expired! Darn it! Anyway scrapaddict put it together and it was cool.

Digital art print for my etsy shop

This is a first of many digital art prints I hope to offer on etsy. This mermaid was originally created for a custom birthday invitation, note cards, favors etc. I have changed her a bit for the art print so that the birthday girl has a one-of-a-kind just for her. Basically this one is slightly different. I also have her as a brunette, redhead, raven-haired, medium tan and darker skin tones.

She is 5" x 7" including the white area around the print. The image itself is about 4.25" x 6.25". I also have her in an 8" x 10" size. If you need another size to fit a specific frame or space I can make that change.

She comes with the word Mermaid but I can change it to your child's name or another word.
