A Tour Of My Studio - 2013

I moved everything around in my studio a few months back but never got around to taking pics. I was starting to have some serious anxiety issues with my lack of space. This new configuration helped relieve some of the anxiety for a while but I'm running out of space again. Anyway this is as clean as it gets. Let's tour shall we?

This was my original plan. Things changed slightly but it's mostly the same.
My studio is in the dining room. I have my large couch blocking part of the entrance because the living room is weird and there is nowhere else to put it.
Behind the couch there is a small bookcase that I use the top of to iron small things. Books and magazines are stored on the shelves. Next to the book case is a wire shelving unit that holds my printer and printer supplies.

Computer desk with cushion underneath for the cat.
Large wire shelves that I moved from the window wall to in front of the kitchen door. Everything is neatly labeled so I can find things but now I'm running out of room so things are piled in front of the shelf.
Clay table with shelves I moved over on the wall. I always meant to make a table skirt so all the crap under the table was hidden...oh well.
My main worktable is now in front of the window so I have better light during the day. A portion of the table is taken up by my new sewing machine.
Next to that table is my felt storage. The small boxes on top have trims and things.

As you can see I'm really packed in here tight. And this is after a good clean out. I won't tell you how much I have stored in the garage too. My brother has said he intends to move out this summer so I'm trying to hold on til then. If he does move I'll take over his room which is the Master bedroom. It's not a huge room at all but just big enough so I can spread out and breathe a bit. Keeping my fingers crossed this happens cause once I'm in there I'm not moving back out.

The Cleanest My Studio WIll Ever Be.

So I work in a pile of chaos and clutter usually. Things tend to pile up as I work which is fine. But it finally reached the point that I couldn't deal with it. I actually went into another room to cut felt... ridiculous! It was time to clean! I'm having some people in soon to look at my dolls and perhaps make a purchase so this really needed to be clean. I've only cleaned my work tables so far but they were the worst. Warning I don't have one of those super pretty studios. Mine is a make-do workhorse.
This is where I sit, sew and cut my felt. My 50 cent rummage sale stool, that one day I'll paint and recover. The folders on the right hold the paper patterns that I'm using right now. My living room is in the background and I watch t.v or movies as I sew.
This is my clay and paint table and I also lay felt body parts here before sewing. All the stuff on the very bottom shelf used to be on the table but I added the shelf to give me more room. The screen closes off the other door into the kitchen so kids and animals aren't running through.

I still have to tackle the computer desk and the storage shelves opposite my paint table and everything stacked on my ironing board. Plus I want my brother to put shelves above my computer desk so I can get more things of of storage bins. Sigh...so much to still do! But I do feel much calmer now so it's back to work!

Messy Studio and WIP

A flurry of creativity plus some shelves coming down have created quite the mess in my studio. The shelves above my computer/printing desk have brackets that are super loose. So I had to remove everything off the shelves so they didn't fall on top of me. Now all of the toys and binders and books and fun stuff are piled on my felt table. Add to that a new box of felt has arrived with no where to go, plus me digging thru things and a huge mess is born.

Lovely isn't it?
I'm very stressed about this and tried to straighten up but I just kept making piles of new items with nowhere to go! I eventually fled to the comfort and calmness of my living room and made a nice felt mess in there. LOL! Hoping that soon my son will be nice and help his mom out and get my shelves back up.

New plush design sneak peek. Not an owl this time.
