Are now in my esty shop. Many of my Hive friends and newer blog followers may not know but before I started making art dolls I designed plush/softies and plush dolls and still do. Here are my Halloween designs from last year. I intended on adding 2 new characters this year: a wolf man and a skellie, but because I'm taking care of my step dad I had to shelve the majority of my projects. Anyway these fun monsters are in my shop at very reasonable prices. They are for collectors and home decor for the holidays but not for young children because of the button details. I hope they bring a smile to your face today!

Good Witch Gana is Finished.
I finally finished this witch. She's a good witch. Her name means Garden. She grows plants to heal the sick. I haven't had time to write a story for her yet but here she is. Please let me know what you think of her.
She's about 25 inches tall and stands on her own without a doll stand. She's completely hand sewn and is my own pattern and design. I thinks she needs a basket and perhaps a broom.

Wednesday Worktable
I'll almost complete a witch today. I discovered last night that I don't have the right color yarn for her hair. Ugh! So she'll be bald for a while and I'll move on to another doll. Anyway here she is so far.
Armless and with a unfinished smoochy head. I promise she'll be better looking when she's finished. I seem to have gotten my creative mojo flowing again and am getting lots done. Yay!What's on your worktable today?

Weekend Worktable Peek
I was stressing the other day about clothes for my dolls. I always stress about this. I do not find making clothes easy or fun so I tend to go very simple and yet still stress. But for these new dolls I wanted real clothes and of course I was stressing and yelling and flinging fabric about. My daughter walks in and says" Geesh mom don't be so hard on yourself. You always make things harder than they have to be!" (so true) So I dove in with both both hands and made a real dress with lining and everything! To real sewers this is no big deal but to me it was huge! I thank my great friend Jorge from The Hive. He sent me a great doll pattern book. Although I didn't use the actual patterns the illustrations on the clothes construction was amazing helpful! Gracias Jorge!
This pic reminded me a bit like the witch Dorthy's house fell on. LOL!

Friday's Worktable. It's A Dark and Rainy Day ...
...perfect for working on witches! I have 2 more bodies to sew but I decided to play around with some fabrics. I'll be working on faces and attaching heads over this long holiday weekend, so they'll really start to look like something soon.
I received Omayra's doll from Patrick's 4th of July swap and she's wonderful. I'll just treasure her! I love to see close up how other people do their dolls. The dress is amazing! This photo doesn't do her justice.
Here's a quick shot of my pup Lita yesterday checking out the view on top of my felt storage.

The Witch Doll is Done!
OMG Finally! I know! Whenever I make a doll I try and do something new each time, plus the clothes are always a challenge to me. Sometimes I have to set them aside until I feel confident enough to drive in and just do it. I'm such a perfectionist and hate having to re-do things. I want them to be right the first time (yeah like that ever happens!) Any hoo with no further adieu here is the first witch.
Oddly enough she's really witch #3. She has 2 sisters that I need to finish also. Now that I've worked out all the details, I hope they will be done quickly as this witch is tired of tending the cauldron alone.I made her as my usual felt doll but added a spiderweb fabric overlay material to her skirt that I've been dying to use. I also found a witchy quote and printed it on fabric that I then used for her torso and the band of her hat. This was also the very fist time I used more realistic hair instead of felt.
She's 19 inches from her feet to the point of her hat. Her arms are positionable. Her hips are jointed too so she can sit. She stands nicely with a doll stand.
Her hair is made from Lion Brand "Homespun" yarn. You have to process it a little but it's super soft and perfect for hair. (I'm allergic to wool so can't go that route) And yes I wanted her to have choppy messy hair. After all she's a witch and that cauldron is hot you know.
I hope you like her. This was the first time I completely left my comfort zone and I'm pretty happy with her.

Witch Doll Sneak Peek
I was hoping for a very productive weekend but because of my crazy allergies that didn't happen. I did almost finish the first witch doll. She's still armless so can't cast spells on me to hurry me along...lol. But that's all so I thought I'd show some quick sneak peeks of her.
Witchy hair
Skirt
That's all for now. Hope to have some other WIPs to show later this week. I'm surrounded by sketches of other Halloween type things I've love to make but may have to save those for next year.

Worktable Tuesday and A Witch.
At the last minute I decided to add a witch to my Halloween Plush Dolls and finished her over the weekend. I think she's my favorite. She's a cutie, isn't she?
The whole gang is now ready to list in my etsy shop.
Some Christmas worktable peeks.
A finished prototype peek.
And yes I went a little nuts last night and started cutting out Halloween owls. How could I not?!
