I'm a bit overwhelmed by all my projects and life stuff. Change is very difficult for me. My brother has moved in. He's going thru a divorce and a foreclosure. We haven't lived together since I was 21 and he was 12 so it's different to say the least. He has his boys every other weekend (although it's been every weekend so far) so the house is filled with noise and boys. I love my nephews and enjoy seeing them but it is putting a little crimp in my productivity. Just something I'm going to have to work around I guess. The best news is that my brother is an amazing cook. He'll come home after a full work day and whip up a fantastic meal! It's so nice not to have to worry about that!

Freefalling!
This is me falling through time and space, a rabbit hole or being sucked into the black hole of my studio! Oh nooooo! Too much going on right now!

I've ordered paper clay online cause hiking out to the Hobby Lobby in this 100 degree heat just wasn't an option. So hopefully I'll finally finish the paper clay dolls that are hanging around. Still working on witches but not happy with their clothes, of course! I should have something finished by next week.

Friday's Worktable. It's A Dark and Rainy Day ...
...perfect for working on witches! I have 2 more bodies to sew but I decided to play around with some fabrics. I'll be working on faces and attaching heads over this long holiday weekend, so they'll really start to look like something soon.
I received Omayra's doll from Patrick's 4th of July swap and she's wonderful. I'll just treasure her! I love to see close up how other people do their dolls. The dress is amazing! This photo doesn't do her justice.
Here's a quick shot of my pup Lita yesterday checking out the view on top of my felt storage.

The Witch Doll is Done!
OMG Finally! I know! Whenever I make a doll I try and do something new each time, plus the clothes are always a challenge to me. Sometimes I have to set them aside until I feel confident enough to drive in and just do it. I'm such a perfectionist and hate having to re-do things. I want them to be right the first time (yeah like that ever happens!) Any hoo with no further adieu here is the first witch.
Oddly enough she's really witch #3. She has 2 sisters that I need to finish also. Now that I've worked out all the details, I hope they will be done quickly as this witch is tired of tending the cauldron alone.I made her as my usual felt doll but added a spiderweb fabric overlay material to her skirt that I've been dying to use. I also found a witchy quote and printed it on fabric that I then used for her torso and the band of her hat. This was also the very fist time I used more realistic hair instead of felt.
She's 19 inches from her feet to the point of her hat. Her arms are positionable. Her hips are jointed too so she can sit. She stands nicely with a doll stand.
Her hair is made from Lion Brand "Homespun" yarn. You have to process it a little but it's super soft and perfect for hair. (I'm allergic to wool so can't go that route) And yes I wanted her to have choppy messy hair. After all she's a witch and that cauldron is hot you know.
I hope you like her. This was the first time I completely left my comfort zone and I'm pretty happy with her.

Sassy's Friday the 13th Finds
I'm not a superstitious person. I have a black cat. I'm careful around ladders because you just should be for safety sake. I do believe in ghosts because I've lived in 2 different houses with them but they don't bother me. There is a real coven of witches in the next town over, I say live and let live on that. Graveyards freak me out but I really have Dr. Who to blame for that! I am a huge horror film fan and grew up on the Friday the 13th movies. So today's finds are a fun mix.
My cat Binks is an all black cat, nose, paws, ears everything.
The poor thing has been sat upon many an time in a semi
dark room.
At 13 this movie scared the crap out of me! A very young
Kevin Bacon is in the original movie.
This artist just might be a new favorite. Love this!
Don't walk under ladders!
I think you're supossed to carry bread in your
pocket in case you meet up with a ghost. Really,
ghosts don't want bread!

Creepy subject matter but hauntingly lovely photo.
She'll get you my pretties!
It's the Addams Family House. Scary good fun and
beautifully built!
What's Friday the 13th without these guys?
