My 2017 Halloween Felt Ornament Set Is Now Avalaible!

For the 2017 Halloween Season, I designed a set of 3 ornaments that are slightly different than last years' patterns but still coordinate with the 1st set. This set will be sold in a bundle of the 3 together.

The First Felt Halloween Ornament Is A Black Cat.

I designed a scary Witch's Black Cat. Most of my ornament designs are usually faces, so it was a treat to do a whole body this time. We've had 3 black cats over the years so I consider this one a friendly cat.

The Second Felt Halloween Ornament Is A Felt Ghost.

This ghost is probably the easiest of all the Halloween ornaments to make. You can sew it like I did or just glue it together with felt glue.

The Third Felt Halloween Ornament Is A Witch's Hat.

I just love this witch's hat! Super easy to make and easy to add details too. Isn't the pumpkin so cute on the hat brim?

Here's All My Felt Halloween Ornaments Together.

I am so tickled at how cute all my Halloween Ornaments look all together! I already have new ideas for next year!

Here's a link to my etsy shop Halloween Bundle Set. And I'll make a sidebar link too.

I hope you enjoy all my Halloween Patterns and will like my Christmas ones as well.

Worktable Wednesday: Product Launch Day!

Whew am I exhausted! I've been working my butt off here in the studio to get everything done it time. I was up til 1 am finishing all the product descriptions and loading photos onto my website. You know what? I'm pretty proud of all the work I've done.

16 new items were introduced today. Here's a few pics of what they are. If you are really interested go to my website and look thought them all, even if it's just for fun.

I have some cute bunny face ornaments.

Adorable embroidered and appliqued jointed bunny ornaments.

A fluffle (group) of awesome felt bunnies.

I give thanks to my daughter who came over and helped with my photo shoot. I couldn't have done it without her.

I hope these colorful creatures have brought a smile to your face today!

Worktable Wednesday: Tools of The Trade

Besides my hands, these are my most used tools. And yes, I consider felt a tool and a medium that helps me express my vision.

Those little crane scissors are new and I'm in love with them!

Last Creative Piece Done

I had to set this piece aside for a while while dealing with the passing of Binks but I did finish this piece, finally
.
I added all the final stitching details and cut out a banner for his name.

I embroidered his name in the same golden color of his eyes.

I then tucked in the ends to have a furled look.

I sewed the banner down and stretched the piece over thick cardboard before placing it in a shadowbox frame.

I'm very pleased with how this came out and would love to do more.

PART 1 can be found here.

Here's the REAL Harley. Such a beautiful dog.

The Very Last Creative Piece of 2015.

The very last piece I'm doing this year is a present for my daughter's boyfriend. It's also a sample piece for a new custom I'll be offering in 2016.

It's a felt art piece that can be framed. I'm pretty excited about this and hope you all enjoying seeing it too.
Here I'm working out the details.

Here is the super simple drawing I did and worked off of.

I chose a background color and pinned the shapes down and started sewing.

The main body is done and now I need to add the details.

It's an applique kind of sewing process. I layer the shapes on top of each other and it gives the piece dimension.

Looks good but it's still too flat looking. Now I'm ready to add what I call embroidery but is really just stitching that adds character and some details to the head.

I've started the stitching. It's a little hard to see in this pic. I'll take a better one later. He needs the rest of his details and and banner with his name embroidered on, and that is really embroidery.

Stay tuned for the next post to see the finished piece. PART 2 can be found here.

Felt Gingerbread House Finished

This is a continuation of a previous post HERE. I added some details to the bushes and a door knob. I stuffed the gingerbread house so it was full and still had some squish. There is a piece of cardboard on the bottom so the house stands properly.

Side view. I was able to use one of my awesome product tags.

I added pink stripes to the candy canes and details to the tree on the back of the Gingerbread house.

Other side. I really like the roof.

Closer view of front of the Gingerbread house.

Closer view of back of the Gingerbread house.

I may make a new different one each until I have a whole felt gingerbread house village!

Felt Gingerbread House Madness Part 1 and A Craft Show.

Thanks to everyone who followed along with my process of making the Day of the Dead Chihuahua! Lots of great comments on Facebook. I really didn't realize it would be so interesting to so many people. SO thanks everyone for reading along!

I've been quiet since my last post because I was madly scrambling getting ready for a small local craft show last Saturday and after that I threw my back out, which is why I haven't posted anything. Back on my feet now so here we go!

Here is my set up for the craft fair. I actually sold more than I thought I would. Lots of people commented on my logo and about how professional my set up looked.

So I had this great idea to do an felt Gingerbread House especially for this craft show I was going to be in. I thought maybe I'd do a raffle for it as a way to get people to sign up for my newsletter, but then I found out that the show was only for 3 hours so I scrapped that idea.

I really wanted to make it anyway so I did and I'll do a quick walk thru of the wips. First, I drew out some gingerbread house shapes: roof, front and back, sides and bottom. Second, I decided on the details, roof style, windows and details. Third, I picked a color palette.
Happy, fun and super girly color palette.

Working out the window shapes.

Sewing on the roof. This would have been so much faster
if I had machine sewed this part, but I didn't of course.

I did tiny drawings of what I wanted each panel to look like,
then I drew the details larger on paper and cut them from felt.

All the details and the house itself are hand sewn. Sewing
the details this way gives them a puffy appliqued look I just love.

I sewed the front onto the sides before I finished sewing all
the details, which in hindsight was really dumb and I won't
do that again.

I wasn't too sure what I wanted to do on the front of this,
so I put the main details on and thought about it for a while.

More details on the front and I did the side window details.
I also put white mini pompom trim on for the frosting.

I'm a fly by the seat of my pants kind of girl so I decided
to add shrubs to the front. I was going to do candy canes
but the space was too tight. Then I put on the mini pink
pompom trim around the door, just for the cuteness factor.

The front door was too plain so I added a small window
and a wreath.

I'll finish this in another post cause this is very photo heavy. Thanks for stopping by and reading!

Ornaments are Coming!

I finished my 2015 Christmas Collection of ornaments. There are 5 designs total with a possible 6th if I get enough interest.

 Beginning designs.

Male Deer, Female Deer, Santa, Snowman and Male Elf.

I took a poll on social media if I should make an Elf or Ginger Cookie. The Elf won, but I did make 1 Ginger Cookie that I'll giveaway on Small Business Saturday, 11/28/15 cause he's so darn cute.

I am taking another poll to see if I should make some Girl Elves with pink hats. What do you guys think? Yes or No?

These are soooo cute in person! I've already sold several and I haven't listed them in my shop yet. I hope you enjoyed seeing them!

I'm Still Here Just Super Busy!

For the last few weeks I've been working on my commissioned piece. It's taking longer than I thought which with me is par for the course. I always forget how much time is required to create something brand new that I've never done before, especially a soft sculpture piece.

The body is done and is stuffed and the back legs are complete and sewn on. The front legs are done but I need to figure out how to sew them on without messing up my embroidery. So while that issue is slowly churning away in the back of my brain I'm working on the head. I had to redo the pattern for the head and make it slightly larger and add an additional gusset to get the shape right.

Now I'm trying to decide if I should do plastic animal eyes or my own sassy packrat eyes style. It's always a work in progress even when I "think" I've got everything figured out.

Here's 2 wips that don't give away too much, hopefully.

I blurred the last pic a little so you can't see the details too clearly. I promise you'll see the finished piece as soon as the client does.

Worktable Wednesday

I had a supply shipment take it's sweet time getting to me so I had a few days to stare at the prototype I made, shown in the previous post. Good thing I had that time cause while sketching out the applique and embroidery designs that I'll be sewing on the final piece I realized the prototype wasn't going to work. So I redesigned it again to give more surface area and now can finally start the final piece.

One of the designs for the soft sculpture piece I mentioned above.

This is the color pallet for a project. So fun and festive!

One of my new felt shipments. I'm so eager to get my scissors into these!

I used all my current blue felt to cut these babies out. I'm currently sewing 1 set a night while watching tv.

I have little felt scrap stacks all over my worktable.

This sweetie is in need of clothes, but has to wait her turn.

I'm super, super busy right now, what are you busy doing?
