Rose Is Finally Finished!

Rose Tyler is the first companion of the 10th Doctor and one of my favorites. She's wearing the Union Jack T-shirt that she had on when she first met Captain Jack Harkness, another favorite of mine.

She sat for a long time without legs or eyebrows because I just wasn't happy with her face. I re-did it 3 times and am still not happy but oh do I love her hair! So I finally finished her up since she's only for my personal amusement anyway.

Here she is with my Doctor doll. I modified her pattern so she's sturdier and a bit taller than the original Doctor I made. But she loves him anyway.

Side view. See the 2 shades of yellow for her hair? I thought I was so clever to do that so her hair wouldn't be a flat color.

Back view. Still loving her hair!

Started on a new Doctor doll, this time in the blue suit. Also will be doing another one in the brown suit and Captain Jack Harkness too. I'm working on a surprise project with these dolls but am not going to say anything until I know if it'll work out or not.

Besides Rose I also finished this cupcake softie that has been sitting around for a while. Possible shop item, just don't know yet.

Thanks for reading through my Doctor Who laden post and I hope you enjoyed seeing the Rose Doll even if you don't know who she is.

A Sweet Note Found On A Chilly Morning.

Found this little note written on a scrap piece of paper on my desk when I came in to start up my computer this morning. It's from my 17 year old daughter. She and I have had a rough few years as she has exerted her Independence and turned into a snark monster. The drama, the yelling, the grounding, more yelling, etc. She's started to calm down a bit lately and it was such a joy to find this sweet little note from her.....see she even calls me mommy!

The Queen of Snarkdom herself and the Diva of the house Lita. And yes these 2 fight for my attention and the rule of the house! LOL!

Random photo of Lita laying in my picture taking area in the sun.

Penguins, Penguins Everywhere! A Mermaid and A Treasury

Since I've been under the weather recently and I can't just sit and do nothing, I've been sewing penguins. I now have penguins in many colors and many sizes taking over my cutting table. I have more than is shown in the above photo. Once I got on a roll I just couldn't stop! Not entirely sure what I'll do with them all. I've listed Herman the big guy with the heart in my shop and 2 of the blue and pink small ones in a giveaway I'm doing for One World One Heart, which you can click on the sidebar link to get more info and also check out my previous post.

I'd really like to know what people think of these because I'd like to make more plush/softies based on my stationery designs. I don't want to waste my time if they are ugly or people don't like them, ya know?

Here's a mermaid softie I'm starting. She's based on my mermaid print I have in my etsy shop. She's got a bit of the old nakedness going on right now, but she doesn't have eyes yet so doesn't know. Shhhhhh! Don't tell her!

I was in a great treasury made up of etsy Twitter friends. See my Cupcake Love Print in the middle there? There were so many great items but unfortunately I didn't get this blogged about in time and the treasury has expired! Darn it! Anyway scrapaddict put it together and it was cool.

So Very Busy Lately

Worked on a new plush for the etsy shop last night. Need to go back and re-work a few things before it's ready but over all I'm pretty happy with it. Any of you who have seen my etsy shop will recognize her from my Penguins in Love art. This is Gwen the penguin. She does stand alone but I'm thinking of adding rice or something to the base for more stability. I usually like to do plush much smaller than this but wanted to give this size a go.

I've been super busy with the kids falling ill with the flu one after the other, lots of ebay orders, a lovely large website order and sketching the hundreds of ideas that are exploding out of my head.

This is Binks. He doesn't usually get pictures taken since he mostly looks like a big dark blob when I try, but he was very cooperative this morning. I guess he feels bad that Lita gets all the photo attention so I promised him he would be the furry star of today's blog post. He'll be 12 this March. I rescued him from a pet store as a bitty little fluffball. As an all black cat he was in danger of being sold to the "wrong people" so I snatched him up and he and I have been very happy together.

On further news, the studio re-do is just about complete. I have a few things that I need help moving out and some shelves to put up then I can take pictures for the after. I'm am so loving my new cutting table/shipping center! I've used it and it's lovely!

Completely Moving The Studio Around - Before Pictures

O.k. let me say to any of my clients who are reading this, that I do work in a clean studio but when I have a lot of orders things can get quite crazy! Perhaps controlled clutter is a good phase?

Anyhow, I've finally come to the conclusion that how my studio is currently set up is so not working for me. When I first moved into this room last summer I didn't really plan everything out well. I was just so happy to finally have a room all to myself for my studio, that I didn't give things serious thought. Which is probably why I never posted photos before (I wasn't happy with things). Good work flow is very important to me so I'm taking time (time I don't really have, really who does?) to completely reorganize everything before I go bonkers!
I'm started to get a little scared at how much there is to do. I'm doing it by myself since my Son is still down with the flu and the Girl is out of town for the weekend. Wish me luck! ;0)

When you first come in the room on the left. These shelves are supposed to hold sticker paper and shipping supplies. On top are some special dolls and plush.

Next to that is my computer desk. It's made from a door we took down in the mudroom when we added the 4 season room addition. It's such a great wide desk, but it gets cluttered easily, as you can see.

These shelves over my desk hold many different things. They were originally for my vintage 70's toy collection but I'm missing a shelf and well crap happens, ya know? You can see some of my collection on the top shelf. I'm an old school Fisher Price & Playskool nut! Tons more are packed away. I hope to get some more displayed soon.

Moving on, this is my printer area, some file storage and the bin and boxes I keep all my felt in etc.
This area is going to be completely redone. It makes me crazy just looking at this picture!

This is the 2nd chair I have in here. It's mostly for the Girl when she comes in to tell me some long teenage drama that has occurred & sometimes she just like to hang out in here with me. So I'll probably keep the chair. Behind that is a bookcase, trust me it's there, full of my design and computer books. Extra supplies and craft supplies are piled on top.

I don't even know what to say about this, so let's just move on shall we?

This is currently my cutting table and shipping station. It's way to small and I'm taking my life in my hands trying to get to it right now. You can see the giant 22" old school monitor that still works but weighs about 100 lbs that I just don't know what to do with. I'm looking for an electronics recycling place because I WILL NOT throw it into a landfill. I can't get anyone to take it since it's a beast so for right now it sits here. The inkjet I'm saving for my daughter. She's getting a laptop for graduation and will need a printer. Oh and please don't ask why I have a Barbie Fairy Playset on the table! Anyone what it? I have the big and little dolls for it too.

Now we are finally at the end! I took the doors off this closet and put a large shelving unit and an awesome large file cabinet I scored at the church rummage sale (my mom bought it for me). Looking at it now I wish I had painted the inside of the closet the same yellow as the walls, maybe in the Spring. This shelving unit holds left over stuff I need to sell on ebay. I drool when I think about all the storage I'll have once that stuff is gone!

Well thanks for sticking with me for this super long post. I realize now I should have done a video but have no idea who had the camera last or where it is. Stay tuned for the clean and organized reveal!

Cupcake Love 8.5 x 10 Print. (etsy)

I have so many things going on right now that for my sanity I've set aside my doll making for a while. I enjoy it so much but I just don't have the time needed to devote to it. And since it's more of a personal pleasure than a money opportunity right now...well you get the drift.

I do have many exciting other projects and also some tutorials coming up so be sure to keep an eye out!

New Items Up In Etsy Shop and WIP

Penguins In Love A2 Note Card Set.

Cupcake Love 5 x 7 Print.

Do ya get the whole love theme yet? LOL!

WIP

Possible Panda Plush with Embroidered Heart
It's all hand sewn so I'm not really sure I have time for this but I did
make a prototype which led to another idea.

I printed some ideas onto fabric for soft plush dolls. Still working
out the kinks.
These could show up in my etsy shop soon.

Quick peek at my Rose Tyler Dr. Who doll. I'm still not happy with her face. This is her second head and 3rd face and I'm not happy yet but I don't have time to keep messing with her so I'm o.k. with her. I love how her hair and Union Jack t-shirt turned out though. Once she gets her legs and eyebrows I'll take better pics. A Captain Jack Harkness doll is in the works too.

My Very Favorite Present This Year

A quick post to share what my son got me for Christmas. Dr. Who Action Figures! OMG I squealed when I opened it! Not knowing my son you have no idea what an amazing present this is. My son has pretty bad ADD and planning ahead and following thru are not his strongest attributes. He went to our local comic shop with his idea of getting me some Dr. Who figures but our shop doesn't carry them. He got the guy to order this for him and actually remembered to go back and get them! Oh did I feel love the love that boy has for me when I unwrapped this!

Of course this will probably start me on a collecting frenzy of all thing Dr., but I'm fine with that!
