One World One Heart 2011 Blog Event

I'm joining in on the One World One Heart Blog event again this year. It's my second year. I had so much fun last year I decided to do it again. You can click on the OWOH image on my right side bar to get more info about the event and see all the great folks that have joined.

My name is Jennifer and I have a passion for felt, specifically eco felt. Eco felt is made from recycled water and pop bottles. I make all kinds of plush dolls and softies. I also make art dolls from felt too. I love anything super cute but also enjoy the odd and slightly twisted too, like zombies, I love zombies. I'm a huge Dr. Who fan. I have a grown up son and a college age daughter, also a cat and my third child is my chihuahua Carmelita.

I made a special fat penguin for this event. As you can see she has a lovely red heart. There is also a smaller heart on her backside.
This penguin is about 9.5 inches tall (25cm) sitting and 11.5 inches tall (29cm) from the feet to the top of the head. A nice hugable size plush. If I get enough entries I'll add some more prizes.

All you have to do is have a blog of your own to enter. Then just comment on THIS post with some way to contact you. Please just leave ONE comment. A winner or winners will be picked on Feb 17th. Thanks so much for joining in on this great event and stopping by to say hi!

A Very Tiny Sneak Peek.

I've been steadily working on new plush designs specifically for STUFFED magazine. They are different from what you've seen me do before. I can't really show what I'm doing. It's partially a jinx thing and partially cause I want their debut to be in STUFFED. Of course if they aren't accepted (I might cry but I'll get over it) then I'd show them. I've given myself a deadline of next weekend to have them finished and ready to ship.

One of my twitter friends, Joni has been asking to see something on these new plush so here's a sneak peek. Well I did say peek, didn't I?
So far I have one almost done (he needs clothes) One 3/4ths done, one not even a 1/4 done and the last one is only a body with no details at all. So you can see I have a lot to do in a short amount of time.

In case you are interested, the bodies are a pattern of my own making, obviously. The clothes and details of all my plush and dolls are freehand and I usually make them up as I go along which is time consuming. I change my mind a lot and usually end up with something completely different than I intended when I first started.

Here's a small hint. I was working on my custom stationery business doing an invitation and favor stickers in a Princess and Pirate theme and had a "light bulb" moment for these plush. And that's all I'm saying.

Winter Wonderland

So 49 of the 50 States in the United States received snow the other day. Kind of amazing considering how large the US is. So I decided to embrace the weather and have some Winter White favorite items to share with you.

I'd totally wear this!
I hope you enjoyed my picks!

Almost Wordless Wednesday

It's cold here in the Midwest...really cold! Binks and Lita each have their own way of staying warm.
Binks lays in my bed by the wall. There is a heat vent behind there.
And Lita tucks into nests she makes on the couch. They both sleep with me at night. Binks on top of the covers and Lita underneath. And they both keep me warm!

What's Going On in Sassy's Studio?

Well it's been an odd beginning to this new year. Started it off right with a newly cleaned studio that I really haven't used cause I don't want to clutter it up again! Silly I know! And then I got sick.

Then I thought about my goals or resolutions for this year. But I'm finding it very difficult to get excited and moving on anything. So perhaps intentions are the better way to go. Intentions seem less formal and serious. If I don't actually do them them no regrets, right?

There are several things I intend to do and these are in no particular order.

1. Blog more consistently. More likes of others work and tutorials.
Post on all 3 of my blogs!

2. Send some of my plush creations to Stuffed Magazine for
consideration to be published in the Summer edition.
(this is a big one and I'm already waffling on this so we'll see)

3. Spend more time and energy on my stationery business and
make some hard decisions about keeping it or not or going
     in a new direction.

4. Take my plush and doll making more seriously and really
     put effort into it.

5. Explore new mediums.

As a Pieces I'll change my mind on the above list a hundred times so we'll see.

Well this month I'm doing a lot of custom stationery work. More than I thought I'd have right after the holidays. That's where most of my time has been allotted recently. I'll show the items I've done on my stationery blog soon. Need to list all my Valentine items on Zibbet asap.
On the etsy side I'm working on a PDF Paper Toy of the TARDIS for those Dr. Who fans. Almost done. And will open listings for more Plush TARDIS soon.

I've been working on a new doll body design. Looking for a way to do more natural boobs and hands with fingers.
I guess I should add a 6. to my list about completing unfinished work. All of these are WIP. Still have the other 5 Alice in Wonderland plush designs to finish too! Sigh!

I have lots of Valentine type owls, penguins and etc in my sketchbook that I HOPE to do. There is also a Leprechaun plush doll that wants to be made plus I need to make a door prize for the One World One Heart Blog hop that starts at the end of this month.

So much to do and so little time! Is your January as wild as mine?
